This is a long-overdue fan letter to Joseph Spence and the various and sundry denizens of his musical world. This has been the music of my heart for as long as I can remember, and for almost as long I've been searching for a way to perform it. Special thanks go to Alan Lomax, Marshall Winslow Stearns, Sam Charters, Peter K. Siegel, and Jody Stecher, who made the original field recordings in the Bahamas; and to Dakota Dave Hull whose albums of guitar music finally gave me an idea of how I might go about doing this.
